IGF-1 LR3 is an 83-amino-acid analog of human IGF-1 with a glutamic acid-to-arginine substitution at position 3 and a 13-residue N-terminal extension. Both changes reduce binding to IGF-binding proteins in vitro, which is why it is a common supplement in serum-free cell-culture media research.
